What GetKits is

One-sentence description: GetKits is a shopping-decision platform that publishes curated, tiered checklists of real products — called Kits — for specific life goals, instead of a scattered pile of one-off affiliate links.

What it is not: Not a general affiliate blog, not a product review site, not a marketplace, and not a general search engine.
Mission: Help people confidently prepare for important life events, hobbies, projects, and experiences by turning overwhelming purchasing decisions into trusted, validated buying plans.
How it makes money: Amazon Associates affiliate commissions on qualifying purchases. Recommendations are not influenced by commission rate — see Affiliate Disclosure.

The core unit: a Kit

A Kit is a single page listing every product needed to accomplish one specific outcome (e.g. "move into a first apartment," "bring home a new puppy," "build a home gym"). Each Kit is organized as a checklist of item slots (e.g. "sheet set," "leash"); each slot carries editorial reasoning and a specific recommended product.

Tiers

Every Kit offers three tiers. Selecting a tier changes both how many items are included and which grade of product is recommended for each item — it is one control, not two separate settings:

Starter: Fewest items, economy-grade picks. The most affordable way to fully accomplish the goal.
Standard (default): The full core checklist, mid-grade picks. The tier most people should choose.
Premium: Every item, premium-grade picks. No artificial upgrades — a pick only appears in Premium if it's a real, meaningful improvement over Standard.

Each Kit also has 1–3 optional Bonus Picks, shown separately and never required.

Who builds Kits

Editorial: Built by GetKits' own editorial process — a structured, multi-factor evaluation (see below). This is the default kit type today.
Creator: Built by a named, real creator sharing what they actually use, with full attribution and a link to their profile.
Expert / Community: Planned kit types (verified professionals; crowdsourced/community-rated kits) — not live yet as of this fact sheet.

How a product earns a spot in a Kit

Every recommended product is evaluated against all of the following factors before it's included — no single factor decides a recommendation on its own:

Practicality, Value, Performance, Design, Longevity, Compatibility, Technology (refresh cycle, ecosystem, future-proofing), Marketplace availability (the best product people can't actually buy isn't the best recommendation), Research & evidence, and Cultural fit.

Editorial independence: Nothing is included in a Kit because of a higher commission rate, sponsorship, popularity, or trend — every recommendation must independently earn its place.
Images & pricing: Product thumbnails use real photos where available, otherwise a stylized placeholder. Prices are researched and may not reflect current live pricing.
AI use on the site: Any on-site AI assistant only exposes the existing editorial reasoning already written for a Kit — it does not invent or independently generate new product recommendations.
